内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Of the picture scroll in black drawing known as “Heike Kindachi Sōshi” (Stories of Young Nobles of the Taira Family), a copy (one scroll) now in the Tokyo National Museum has been known since long ago. In 1947 another scroll was discovered, and in the same year, in Vols. 665 and 666 of the Kokka, Mr. TANAKA Ichimatsu discussed on the two scrolls concerning their history, contents, styles, and the relation between their texts and pictures, and published the whole texts of both. His detailed research has roughly made clear the overall aspect of this work.
The contents of both these scrolls are episodes about young noblemen of the Heike (Taira Family). The sources of their texts were unknown and were imagined to be some literary work in a later period. Several years ago the present writer discoverd that Section 2 of the text of the newly found scroll was a part of the Angen onga-no-ki
(Record of the fiftieth anniversary of the Ex-emperor Goshirakawa written by the courtier FUJI WARA Takafusa in the 2nd year of the Angen era (A. D. 1176). The discovery made known that the original text of this section was a work during the period of the Heike's prospeity. It relates about the festive party held on the 6th day of the 3rd month in the 2nd year of Angen in honour of the 50th year of age of the Retired Emperor Goshirakawa, and writes in admiration of the loveliness of th who danced the congratulatory dance Seigaiha. The text of the subject section is approximately equivalent to the second half of the statement under the date of March 6 in the Angen ongano-ki but is considerably abridged. The present writer lists in this article the differences between the two, and at the end of this volume publishes the two versions in a comparative table form.
Incidentally, it is notable that the text of another picture scroll known as “Fujinami-e Sōshi” was discovered by Mr. AKIYAMA Terukazu to have been derived from the Tsuya-kotoba, another work of Takafusa the author of the Angen onga-no-ki, proving that it has a close connection with the “Heike Kindachi Sōshi” under discussion.
The present writer has tried to find also the sources of other sections of this scroll, without success by this time. Through detailed studies on respective sections, however, he points out that their author had a very close friendship with the Taira Family since his young years, that he was not a man of the Taira stock, that he was deeply interested in music and dance, and that the name of Takafusa appears in several sections. He nominates Takafusa as the probable man who satisfies the above-mentioned conditions, and suggests a tentative conclusion that the texts of the other sections were also from Takafusa's writings.
