内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Wu Hung 呉宏 was a painter from Chin-hsi 金溪, in Chiang-hsi Province, who was active in the latter half of the seventeenth century. Though this painting as a whole is in an ordinary compositional style for ink bamboo-paintings of the end of the Ming and the beginning of the Ch’in Periods, it is characterized by its dynamic structural brush work. Wu Hung is one of the eight painters called Chin-lian-pa-chia 金陵八家, painters who are related regionally rather than stylistically. But in the style, too, he is close to the grave mood of Kung Hsien 龔賢 and Tsou Chên 鄒喆 who are counted in this group.
From the inscription of this painting, we know that he painted it at the foot of Mt. Yün-link 雲林 at Chin-hsi, his home town. The mention in T’ung-yin-lun-hua 桐陰論画 that he lived in Mt. Yün-lin, which in this book is implied to be located near Chin-lian, present Nan-chin, is not precise.
While the definition of the Chin-lian-pa-chia in Kuo-ch'ao-hua-chêng-lu 国朝画徴録 is widely known, there is another definition in Chiang-ning-hsien-hsin-chih 江寧県新誌, a definition attributed to Chou Liang-kung 周亮工, which regards three of the eight in the above-mentioned definition and five others as constituting the Chin-lian-pa-chia The author considers that it is also a subject for further study what kind of relations exist between actual historical fact and these ideas.
