Here in this number, the author treats the following four peices: \n     5) Baby cloth of white twill said to have been used by Tsunanobu TOKUGAWA (P1. II-a, figs. 15 to 17). \n     6) Baby cloth with light blue komon pattern said to have been used by Tsunanobu TOKUGAWA (P1. II-b, figs. 18, 21, 22) \n     7) Baby cloth with the design of yūzen dyeing said to have been used by Tsunamura DATE (Pls. I, III-a, figs. 23, 27, 28, 29). \n     8) Baby cloth of white silk said to have been used by Tsunamura DATE (P1. III-a, fis. 30 to 33). \n     Tsunanobu TOKUGAWA is the third clan lord of the TOKUGAWA clan of Owari Province. \n     He was born as the eldest son of Mitsutomo, the second clan lord, in 1652 and died in 1699. The two baby clothes here numbered as 5 and 6 are said to be “a part of the formal clothes used in the birthday ceremony of Tsunanobu.” No. 5 is a cloth of white twill lined with white plain silk and wadded with thin cotton wool. No. 6 is a cloth of silk with fine light blue pattern dyed in the method of komon using a sort of fine stencil. It is lined with plain-woven silk dyed in very pale blue colour. \n     Tsunamura DATE is the fourth clan lord of DATE clan of Sendai. He was born as the eldest son of Tsunamune, the third clan lord, in 1659 and died in 1719. The two clothes here numbered as 7 and 8 have been handed down by the HIRANO Family, people of which had served for DATE clan in the field of the Yin-and-Yang cult. No. 8 is the underwear for No. 7. No. 7 is one of the oldest remaining examples of yūzen dyeing. It is a cloth of plain-woven silk with design of yūzen dyeing lined with plain-woven silk dyed in scarlet, and wadded with cotton wool. No. 8 is a white plain-woven silk cloth lined with white plain-woven silk and wadded with cotton wool.
