Some of these pieces are reproduced in Pls. VII, VIII and figs. 34 to 39. Wakamatsuri has been held every year on May 17 since the seventh year of the Genna Era (1621) when the shrine was founded. Fig. 40 is a bugaku dance scene of the festival depicted in the Illustrated Scroll of the History of Tōshōgū Shrine painted by Horimichi SUMIYOSHI (1599-1670) owned by the shrine.\n     In addition to these, four mouth covers for tealeaf jars made of imported cloth are introduced (Pl. V, figs. 41, 42). They are of high quality, beautiful cloth imported from China in the Momoyama Period, that is, velvet with gold threads. The ground is gold colour. The peony scroll pattern is in white, red and green colours.
