Among them is the so-called Rin'a version 琳阿本. Although the very first set of the version is not extant, the complete nine-scroll set copied in the Edo period remains today (Pl. VII). This article focuses on this set, presently owned by the Myōjōin temple 妙定院 in Tokyo. The first, second, third, fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth scrolls of the Myōjōin set have an inscribed name of Rin'a 琳阿, a renga poet active in the late fourteenth century, who once owned the original of this set. This set has been called the Rin'a version, after him.\n Two scrolls out of another nine-scroll set produced in the late Kamakura period remain today and are owned by the Kuribayashi family and Tokyo National Museum respectively. These scrolls correspond to the seventh and eighth scrolls of the Myōjōin set, and their text and picture scenes are virtually the same as those of the corresponding Myōjōin scrolls. However, this does not signify that the incomplete set was the archetype of the Myōjōin set, but rather that both sets are variants in the same group.\n The close examination of the manner of copying in the Myōjōin set leads us to the view that this set reflects an attempt at a faithful reproduction of the original, and there is no trace of significant modification from the Edo period when it was copied. For example, the correct representation of the Buddhist ritual paintings shown in the scenes, the faithful reproduction of the faces of the figures in the mode of the late Kamakura or Nambokuchō periods and exact copying of the text which includes even the disorder of the original text attest to the aforementioned.\n The production date and the painter of the original Myōjōin set are not known, but the text suggests the influence of the Chinzei 鎮西 group of the Jōdo sect. At the same time, while the text of the Myōjōin set was written under the strong influence of the Dempō-e 伝法絵, so-called “Fourscroll version”, the picture scenes do not reflect any of this influence. Rather, the Myōjōin set shows a comparatively close connection with the “Nine-scroll version 九巻伝” and the Shūi-kotoku-den-e 拾遺古徳伝絵. This is especially true in the case of the picture scenes of the Shūi-kotoku-den-e. About sixty scenes out of eighty of the Myōjōin set resemble those of the Shūi-kotoku-den-e. A majority of the textuary-study specialists have expressed the view that the text of the Rin'a version was produed before that of the Shūi-kotoku-den-e compiled by Kakunyo in 1301. Such a view would provide the explanation that the picture scenes of the Shūi-kotoku-den-e might be a copy of the Rin'a version. In fact, a few scenes in the Shūi-kotoku-den-e apparently indicate that they were copied from the Rin'a version as suggested by the textuary study. However, there are two scenes in the Myōjōin set (the scenes of the third and fifth chapters of the third scroll) which could not have been produced without the text of the Shūi-kotoku-den-e. On the basis of this comparative examination of the two sets, we cannot simply follow the conclusion drawn by the textuary study.\n One cannot tell what caused this complicated relation between these two sets. The answer will be given only by clarifying the processes of the production of both versions, yet little is known about the background of the Rin'a version. The author intends to take up this question in his future survey on the Shūi-kotoku-den-e.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"米倉, 迪夫"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yonekura, Michio","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2017-10-04"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"324_9_Yonekura_Redacted.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"13.4 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"324_9_Yonekura_Redacted.pdf","url":"https://tobunken.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/6365/files/324_9_Yonekura_Redacted.pdf"},"version_id":"caee49a0-0208-4fb4-93d5-34114492f201"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"法然上人伝絵(東京 妙定院蔵)絵巻","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Pictorial Biography of Priest Honen, The Myojo-in, Tokyo","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"琳阿本「法然上人伝絵」について","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"琳阿本「法然上人伝絵」について"},{"subitem_title":"On the Rin’a Version of the Pictorial Biography of Priest Honen","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10001","owner":"3","path":["1035"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2017-10-05"},"publish_date":"2017-10-05","publish_status":"0","recid":"6365","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["琳阿本「法然上人伝絵」について"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":3},"updated":"2023-05-15T14:32:46.678502+00:00"}
