 note = {Twenty-five letters of Somon Tetsuō (d. 1871), a monk painter who lived in Nagasaki, and two letters to him, cited in Somon Tetsuō in Nagasaki Prefectural Nagasaki Library, are put into print.
     Somon Tetsuō is a collection of quotations concerning Tetsuo from such printed books as Gajō Yōryaku and Chikudensō Shiyū-roku, manuscripts like Daikōji Kakochō and Engetsudō Kagan Shuroku and many other sources.
     The twenty-five letters by him include those addressed to Itsuun KINOSHITA and Yūnosuke KINOSHITA. They not only give us better understanding of the activities of Tetsuō and Itsuun but also shed light on some facts relevant to painters' circles in Kyoto and Osaka in the end of the Edo Period.},
