S. A. \n Pantalon déchiré, Fouji (G.), Paris Salon 1888, No. 1020.\n\n Fuji Gazô's oil painting Torn Trousers was entered in the 1888 French Salon but its later whereabouts was unknown until it was recently accidentally discovered in the U. S. A.\n During his study in Paris, Fuji is remembered as the person, along with Yamamoto Hôsui, who introduced Kuroda Seiki, the painter who would have an enormous influence on Japanese modern oil painting, to the world of art. However, thanks to a lack of historical materials on the subject, Fuji's own paintings have rarely been discussed. That is because Fuji did not return to Japan, and he distanced himself from painting production by moving to America and becoming active as a designer for porcelain wares. The works that have been known by Fuji include the French Landscape in oils in the Tokyo National Museum, and such Japanese traditional paintings as his Flowers and Birds in the Cold in the Ôita Prefectural Art Center, his hometown.\n In this instance, a major Fuji painting was discovered\nby a connection from a friend of the curator at the museum housing the painting. This painting is mentioned by Kuroda Seiki in his memoir comments on Fuji, where he noted the painting itself and that it were purchased by an American. But its exact whereabouts were unknown. Kuroda wrote about the work: “A child had torn his trousers and was being scolded by his mother as his silent father sat by. This imagery led to the title 'Torn Trousers,' and it is quite a big work, measuring 2.5 meters in width. I was either 22 or 23, and the Salon accepted this painting. However it did not win a prize. Then I heard that it had been purchased by an American.”\n The American, George Washington Linninger, who purchased this painting was an important art patron in Omaha, Nebraska. Linninger had his own gallery open to the public where he displayed many of the works he collected in Europe, including this painting by Fuji. The collection was scattered after his death, and by good fortune, this work was donated to the Joslyn Art Museum where it remains today.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10001_description_6":{"attribute_name":"内容記述","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"第396号に本論文の正誤表掲載。","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"高橋, 秀治"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Takahashi, Shuji","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2017-10-05"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"396_45_Takahashi_Redacted.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"4.1 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"396_45_Takahashi_Redacted.pdf","url":"https://tobunken.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/6197/files/396_45_Takahashi_Redacted.pdf"},"version_id":"48f2a66b-9661-4903-bbf2-b6af71dd4007"},{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2021-05-13"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"396_00_Seigohyo _Redacted.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"86.5 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"正誤表","url":"https://tobunken.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/6197/files/396_00_Seigohyo _Redacted.pdf"},"version_id":"b4b8d699-665c-4ac5-b22e-899a8c4551e6"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"藤雅三 破れたズボン(米国 ジョスリン美術館蔵)ネブラスカ州・オマハ・ジョージ・ワシントン・ライニンガー","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Torn Trousers, by Fuji Gazo, Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha, Nebraska","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"研究ノート 藤雅三《破れたズボン》発見報告","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"研究ノート 藤雅三《破れたズボン》発見報告"},{"subitem_title":"Research Note: Report on the Discovery of Torn Trousers by Fuji Gazo","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10001","owner":"3","path":["984"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2017-10-05"},"publish_date":"2017-10-05","publish_status":"0","recid":"6197","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["研究ノート 藤雅三《破れたズボン》発見報告"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":3},"updated":"2023-05-15T14:44:44.695923+00:00"}
