This paste is hard and insoluble in water, and even when water is applied to the paste,the sheets cannot be separated. Japanese paper conservators call this paste “mamenori”(unfermented soybean paste). It is mentioned that soybean had been used as an adhesive for paper documents in 8th, 10th, and 13th century archives. However,soybean is not used in Japanese paper conservation these days. “Mamenori”is an uncertain material because much is unclear about it, such as the way of preparing and using it. The aim of this study is to clarify what “mamenori”is. Characteristics of brown paste by which conservators recognize the paste as “mamenori”were surveyed. They notice four points:brown color,insoluble in water,used on ancient documents,and used for jointing sheets. Samples of four “mamenori”were analyzed, and it was found that their spectra are similar and that they are also similar to that of soybean except for 1720cm-1 absorbance which has its origin in lipid of soybean.}, pages = {81--95}, title = {〔報告〕典籍類に使用された「豆糊」に関する赤外分光分析}, year = {2014} }
