This year, the author investigated classical ceramic works that ceramic artists of Kyoto collected in the Meiji period as well as documents regarding Kyoto ware which were published from the mid- to late Meiji periods. As a result it was found that many Kyoto ware were exhibited at World Expositions and that this resulted in a change in the manufacture of ceramics from that for domestic use to that for export. It also brought about significant changes among ceramic artists and others engaged in the ceramic industry. That is why ceramic artists in Kyoto started to study designs and to develop glazing techniques. In this paper, the author introduces the study of classic works of Kyoto ware in order to see what the ceramic artists learned and what ingenuity they brought into their works.}, pages = {75--90}, title = {近代京都の陶芸技術にみる古典へのまなざし―革新と復古の間で京焼陶工が目指したもの―}, year = {2009} }
