Determination of the characteristic curve is essential for a quantitative evaluation of radiography as is X-ray film radiographic imaging process. Plotting the density measured against the log of exposure given makes a typical X-ray film characteristic curve. The shape of the curve represents the contrast response of the X-ray film to a wide range of exposures. When it is not practical to generate the entire\ncurve through a variation of a single exposure parameter, bootstrap methods can be used. For the bootstrap method used here, a three-exposure parameter (X-ray radiation time:1min, 2min, 3min) generates curve segments.\n In this study the characteristic curves of a mammography film (UM-MA HC, AD-M) and IX-FR film are compared. As a result, fine density was obtained for UM-MA HC in irradiation time of 1 min and for IX-FR in irradiation time of 3 min. The authors conclude that UN-MA HC provides a wide range of characteristics in a short time. However, it is known that the density of the image increases with the energy of radiation and IX-FR usually has more density than UM-MA HC. 内容記述 | A characteristic curve is the graph that represents the relation of light quantity irradiated to a film. Determination of the characteristic curve is essential for a quantitative evaluation of radiography as is X-ray film radiographic imaging process. Plotting the density measured against the log of exposure given makes a typical X-ray film characteristic curve. The shape of the curve represents the contrast response of the X-ray film to a wide range of exposures. When it is not practical to generate the entire curve through a variation of a single exposure parameter, bootstrap methods can be used. For the bootstrap method used here, a three-exposure parameter (X-ray radiation time:1min, 2min, 3min) generates curve segments. In this study the characteristic curves of a mammography film (UM-MA HC, AD-M) and IX-FR film are compared. As a result, fine density was obtained for UM-MA HC in irradiation time of 1 min and for IX-FR in irradiation time of 3 min. The authors conclude that UN-MA HC provides a wide range of characteristics in a short time. However, it is known that the density of the image increases with the energy of radiation and IX-FR usually has more density than UM-MA HC.
